GvA Leistungselektronik GmbH specialises in just such individual problem solutions. Our exceptional expertise in dealing with power semiconductors results in quick turn-around time for tailor-made problem solutions that fit existing systems or new developments.
Some typical examples:
- A system runs in full operation, the converters that produce 1.2 MVA are equipped with GAT thyristors. Due to the application, these must be swapped out on a monthly basis. Unexpectedly, the GAT thyristor production is discontinued, reserve replacement thyristors become scarce. GvA Leistungselektronik GmbH replaces the converters with functionally compatible IGBT converters without interrupting operation and integrates the new converters into the existing infrastructure.
- After years of service in the DC drive of a steel rolling mill, thyristors are beginning to fail increasingly because of ageing. Production is running at full capacity. GvA Leistungselektronik GmbH replaces the controlled rectifiers as a functionally compatible revision and integrates these new components into the existing infrastructure.
- A controlled rectifier made with tyratrons is to be replaced to maintain the research operation of an accelerator. GvA Leistungselektronik GmbH replaces these rectifiers with thyristors and integrates these into the existing infrastructure.
- The thyristors in a pulse switch are failing under certain circumstances. GvA Leistungselektronik GmbH develops additional circuitry which prevents this now.
- High power converters with a voltage feed of 1 000 Veff are to be water cooled and integrated into the housing of a three-phase motor. GvA Leistungselektronik GmbH develops the solution within 6 months.
- IGBT inverters are to be placed in service for power system control in the place of conventional inverters with fast thyristors. After only four months of development time the customer is testing up to six inverters in parallel operation.
- A grid with 3.3 kVeff requires a 1 MVA inverter. After only seven months, the customer has a prototype of a 3-level IGCT inverter.
- A repetitive pulse switch with load balancing and control electronics is required for a medical technology application. The prototype is running after only eight months of development time.
- Power electronics with controller are required to operate lasers. The customer has the device after only four months of development time.
- The layout of IGBT power switches, suitable for accelerators, is accomplished in only six weeks.
- A prototype with series connected IGBTs is made available after only 12 weeks.
- High voltage switches with light-activated thyristors are developed and manufactured within eight months.
